One of the crazy realities we all have to deal with now is how the future of our friendships and community will look like. It would be a good idea to consider how new routines and ways of connecting will become regular routine in your weekly life.

A recent conversation with my 89 year old aunt sparked an idea. She is the least tech savvy member of our family, however she learned how to use zoom- and now her church hosts two studies a week that she, and about 60 others, never miss. She loves seeing their faces, hearing the word and communicating with others. She’s also expanded to meeting with us for birthdays, games and just regular visits.

My name is Kimberley Stevens, and I feel inspired to get some of these groups going for anyone who’s interested, but particularly seniors. I am happy to help people get set up, and host visits. I am seeing them as social connections as well as spiritual connections. A chance to feel less isolated while reaching out and finding friends while still keeping safe.

Canada is not going to change the social rules of this virus crisis anytime soon, so I suggest we change, learn something new and reconnect on a regular basis.
