POWER OF PRAYER - Matthew 7:7-11
What Does it Say? All who ask, seek, and knock will be given what is good for them. God will give good things to his children when they ask, just as a parent will give to their child the good things they ask for.
What Does it Mean? God wants us to ask Him when we want something. God knows what we need, what we want, and what is good for us before we ever ask, so why does he tell us to ask? When we ask, we know who to thank, and we are investing in our relationship with God.
He loves us and wants to give us good things in the same way we want to give good things to our children. God would not tell us to pray and then refuse to listen or answer our prayer. Do we really care if God gives us what we ask for, enough to keep asking until we get it? If you lost something important, would your prayer to find that item be more urgent than what you are asking for? Do your really care if God answers your prayer? If you do, here are some suggestions for getting started. Ask God what He wants you to pray for. Make a list and divide it up into days of the week or month depending on how long your list is. Be committed to pray every day. Start a prayer journal and record your requests and the date. When the prayer is answered, record how your prayer was answered and the date. You will be amazed at how this builds your confidence in the power of God and your prayer. Take some time this week to get organized.
