Chicks & Chocolate.  The name says it all.  This was the kick-off event for CRBC’s new women’s ministry, woman2woman, and was all about meeting with other women, eating chocolate and learning what woman2woman is about.  There were about 70 women of all ages who attended the event.  I was pleased to see many new faces, as well as familiar ones, and enjoyed meeting and chatting with them during our icebreaker games.  The tables were set with beautiful and delicious handmade chocolates, the most amazing of which were colourful and life-like chocolate flowers in vases in the center.  All the women attending helped contribute to the event by brining dainty chocolate desserts or fresh fruit to dip in the chocolate fountain.  The gym was full of a lively and happy atmosphere, especially as we were sharing the chocolate treats.

We heard from all the coordinators, what woman2woman would look like in the upcoming year and how all of us could get involved.  June Spelay, the director of woman2woman will be putting together a daily devotional for women, which has just started this week (available on the crbaptist website and the Woman2woman Facebook page).  Krista Hein, the events coordinator, gave us a teaser for the events coming up this year.  Leah Ricketson, outreach, shared her passion for reaching the women in Campbell River.  Carol Stevens, prayer coordinator, encouraged us all by sharing that over 20 ladies are already praying for woman2woman.  Heather Hanthorn, mentoring coordinator along with Candice Check, told us how important mentoring has been to her and how she would like to see that develop here.  Mary Walters, the shower coordinator, got us excited about celebrating with new moms and brides as well as in learning about cake decorating and other arts.  Check out crbaptist.bc.ca/ministries/woman2woman for more information on each ministry.

Already in the works is a hiking trip to Ripple Rock on Saturday, October 18 and a young mom’s group, which will have its first meeting on Thursday, October 23.  There are many ways to get involved, through helping organize and set-up events, being a part of the prayer team, or becoming a mentor for other women, as well as many other large and small jobs alike.

Ruth Germo gave a short devotional on who we were created to be.  We are happiest and at our best when we are doing what God created and gifted us to do.  It was fun and encouraging to share with other ladies at my table what their gifts are and how they are able to use them to bless others in their lives.  Ruth was engaging and was able to get everyone talking and sharing through her interactive style.

The evening ended with draw prizes, friendly conversation and more chocolate.  The coordinators did a wonderful job and I think I can speak for all when I say that I am eagerly anticipating the next woman2woman event.  They have a good team and will hopefully be getting many volunteers and participants.  I can’t wait to see what God will do with the women he has chosen!
