Our vision for our ministries:

For our ministry at CAJ, we desire to continue to align ourselves with the vision of the school and that is to equip students to impact Japan and the world for Christ.

Stephen, along with the regular duties of facilities management, is involved in the creation of the master plan for the school. As he interacts and works alongside Japanese vendors, architects, city officials, contractors, etc., he always aims to represent Christ and share the love of Jesus.

Jacquie, as she consults with families and schools about educational matters, she desires to listen well, to encourage and to resource for the flourishing of families and school communities.

For the church ministry, the goals are to disciple and raise leaders who will be equipped to disciple others so that the church can multiply. Creativity and commitment from the church members to form various outreach ministries are needed to expand the Gospel in the city where the church is located.

Interesting facts about our ministry and the country of Japan:

The church plant that we are involved with is located in downtown Tokyo near the train station of Ikebukuro. It is the second busiest station in the world with almost 3 million people passing through on an average weekday.

Christian Academy in Japan was established in 1950 and our students come from over 25 countries with many holding dual citizenship.

Most Japanese people are not interested in religious beliefs but rather practice religion for the function it serves in their lives. It is not unusual for a person to go three three sets of religious rites within a lifetime: a Shinto dedication at birth, a Christian-styled wedding, and a Buddhist funeral.

Praise and Prayer:

We praise God for the longevity and continued passion he has given us to serve in our leadership roles at the school.

Pray for creative and impactful opportunities to come alongside and share the love of Jesus and the gospel message with our Japanese neighbours and friends. We desire for the people of Japan to know Christ as the only one who can meet all their needs.

We are thankful to the Lord for three daughters and two sons-in-law who love Jesus, serve in their local church and have meaningful work and community. Pray for continued provision, protection and growth for each of them.
