Stories and Songs for June 7th

Activity:

In the story this week, we talk about how God is peace and if we are going to live as citizens of the kingdom of heaven, we too need to grow peace in our hearts. The opposite of peace that Jesus talks about in Matthew 5 is anger. What happens if we don’t grow peace in our hearts? Anger can take its place and control our actions. We want our actions to be controlled by peace.

There are two activities you can choose from this week.

Option 1: Craft

  • Draw a heart on a piece of paper
  • Cut out Heart
  • Write the word "PEACE" in the heart as a reminder to grow peace in our hearts
  • Attach colorful paper or streamers to the heart as a reminder that what we put in our heart is what flows out

Option 2: Baking Activity

  • Joseph was his dad's favorite son. Because of that his brothers grew anger in their hearts instead of peace.
  • Decorate a cookie with some m&m's as a reminder of the story of Joseph and his brothers.
  • As you put Joseph's coat together, talk about the ways that you can grow peace in your heart.
