How do we have intimacy with God? What does it mean to draw near to Him? Our relationship with God can feel like it changes with the seasons of life or even the weather. It can feel like it ebbs and flows. We need to remember that genuine intimacy with God is not simply a feeling that we equate with a romantic relationship. It goes much deeper than emotion, down to our very souls, and is reflected by our rhythms and actions.
This week we will be looking at the book of James, which tells us that our intimacy with God and others will be disrupted and even destroyed by unrepentant sin. True intimacy grows as we draw near to God, knowing that He has promised to draw near to us. It’s also sustained with regular confession and repentance. This year, let’s seek to be people that draw near to God.

For most of us, reading through the entire Bible is a daunting task. At the same time, it is also a worthy and rewarding mountain to climb. For those who have walked these trails with a heart seeking after the Living God, we know the blessings are incalculable, and that it's worth every step. We encourage you to try a Bible Reading Plan this year. If you have tried in the past, maybe this is the time to try it again.

We are offering two options:

1) Digital Option - Download the "Youversion" Bible App onto your Smartphone. Once you have it downloaded, choose "Plans", and "Bible in a Year", and select one of the many plans available. You can also choose to read through the bible in 2 or 3 years, depending on the season of life you are in. 

2) Paper Option - On Sunday, pick up the printed Bible Reading plan that will be available after the service. Work through the readings at whatever pace you feel is comfortable. It might take one year or many to read through the entire bible, but having a record is a nice way to celebrate when you have finished!

Whatever you choose, let us know when you have finished or how it's going because we would love to celebrate with you!

Small Groups are starting again after the winter break, and so this is a great time to join (if you don't already have a group). Small Groups are an essential part of your spiritual journey. They help us to grow deeper relationships, walking with other Christians who can strengthen, comfort, and encourage us. It's where the rubber meets the road! 

There are two ways to join:

1) Fill out an orange "Discipleship" card at church on Sunday. We'll get back to you as soon as we can with possible groups.

2) Head to our Small Groups Website, consider the groups that have space, and click "request to join" on a group that fits your schedule.
