The Light that breaks through

The Light that breaks through

Advent 2022

Christmas is a celebration of light, in the midst of winter, in the midst of short and dark days. The sun is hidden by clouds and things can be gloomy. In this season of darkness, we light candles and wood fires, we pull out our strings of twinkle lights and adorn our spaces with them. In this season of darkness, we are longing for the light to break through. Christmas, although it is a celebration of the light, in some ways, it highlights the darkness we might feel in our lives. For those who are grieving, who are lonely, who are sick or carrying heavy loads - instead of light, it can just feel sluggish and dark. We are longing for the light to break through. This Sunday, however you are feeling about the season, we will be exploring how the light of Jesus does break through, how the darkness cannot overcome the light, no matter how pervasive it may feel. We look forward to being with you!

Advent: Love

Advent: Love

Our world seems to have dirtied and cheapened the word "love" until it's almost unrecognizable. After all the damage done, can love still hold any meaning? As we read in 1 Corinthians 13, Love endures all things. The love we speak of was dirtied, albeit in a different way. It received the abuse. It was spit on, and beaten. It left the comfort of the city walls to suffer in the garbage dump, among lepers and outcasts. And still the love of God goes on. It does not fear death, and cannot be overcome by the darkness. Come and rejoice in Jesus' love this Sunday, as we light the Advent candle of love.

If you need a hamper, or know someone who does, please call the office! We would love to make it happen.
